About RAC
Radiology Associates of Clearwater (RAC) has continuously provided radiology services to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida since 1960 when Alfred Schick joined the hospital staff as the first Board Certified radiologist and served as chief radiologist until 1988. He was the first Fellow of the American College of Radiology in Pinellas County. Over the next several years, highly qualified, board certified, fellowship trained radiologists joined the practice. The name “Radiology Associates of Clearwater” became official in 1988.
In 2004, the radiology group servicing the Mease Hospitals in Dunedin and Countryside joined RAC and the combined group services, 24/7, the entire Morton Plant Mease Health System.
RAC is staffed by a full, local roster of Board Certified and Fellowship-trained radiologists, ready at all times to provide the most comprehensive imaging and interventional care in the Pinellas and Pasco County area of Tampa Bay.
RAC was a pioneer in providing neuroradiology services, interventional procedures including percutaneous biopsies, percutaneous nephrostomies, percutaneous biliary procedures, endovascular stent placement for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in Pinellas County. RAC was also one the first groups in the area to perform MRI procedures, cardiac CT scoring and CT Angiography, and cardiac MR exams.
